JM Quarter Horses, owned and operated by Jodi Mallette has been in
business since 2004. JM Quarter Horses offers training, coaching,
lessons and sales. Here's a bit about Jodi...
Jodi started out as
a horse crazy kid in Windsor, Ontario. Growing up her family wondered
where this incredible passion for horses came from as they were all
'city folk'. At age 10 her parents finally gave in to the constant
begging and allowed her to take riding lessons and that was it - she was
hooked! Years of lessons and traveling to shows in Hunter/Jumper,
Eventing and Dressage gave her the solid foundation needed before her
parents bought her that first horse. A friend of the family was a horse
trainer and he guided her parents, helping them make that important
purchase. Jodi is grateful to Ed Affleck for his assistance because that
first horse led to Jodi finding her true love - the Quarter Horse.
Following a career in retail sales and buying, Jodi had the opportunity
to make her lifelong hobby into her new career and she began teaching
and training for Lindsay Grice in 1997. The incredible experience she
gained while under Lindsay's guidance led her to where she is today and
she is forever grateful to Lindsay for the opportunity.
Jodi
travels with her Quarter Horse show customers to all of the Area 3
shows, many of the Ontario shows and some shows in the US.
Jodi
specializes in the all around horse and really enjoys the process of
bringing riders along from the entry level, to novice showing at the
Quarter Horse level and seeing the growth as they achieve personal best
rides and win awards along the way.
Jodi’s students have realized
some amazing success - from Congress top 10 placings to Year End High
Point Awards for Area 3, Ontario and Teen Ranch circuits there were many
success stories from the season. Check out the season details on the
gallery page.
Trail is a real passion for Jodi and she and
her students successfully competed in many trail classes across the show
circuits. She has winter trail practices and a spring clinic with Nancy
Cahill every year to keep skills sharp and ready for the upcoming shows!
Since 2001, Jodi has been actively involved in the Area 3
Promotional Club (central Ontario Quarter Horse Association). She
served as a director for 3 years and President in 2004. On top of many
other tasks within the organization, she and her husband designed and
maintain the Area 3 web site at
www.area3.ca.
Area 3 shows are the backbone of Jodi’s business and she wants to ensure
they continue to thrive and be successful. Sponsoring Area 3 helps the
organization to put on 3 of the largest show circuits in the province at
what she considers the nicest show grounds & facilities. She is proud to
sponsor the club and knows that the money is given back to the
exhibitors in the form of prizes, awards and fantastic shows & events!
Currently, JM Quarter Horses is primarily based out of Reid Farm &
Equestrian Centre in Orangeville, Ontario. This facility has all the
amenities a horse owner could ask for, and provides the absolute best in
care for horses of any breed or discipline. |

Allyson began taking riding lessons with Lindsay Grice & Jodi Mallette
in 2001. She was fortunate enough to be able to begin competing on
the AQHA circuit in 2004 riding a horse that her Aunt, Patricia Nicol
had purchased for her to become competitive.
Allyson competed
mostly in Ontario & Area 3, where she won many All Arounds, Hi Point and
Reserve High Point awards in many different categories including Hunter
Under Saddle, Equitation, Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Trail, Western
Riding, Showmanship and Halter.
In 2007 and 2008, Allyson
attended the All American Quarter Horse Congress as a youth competitor
and represented the Area 3 NYATT team in Horsemanship and Showmanship.
Both times she was a finalist in the Horsemanship, and that is an
accomplishment she is very proud of.
In the future, Allyson plans
to attend college, but for now she is pleased to be able to work with
Jodi - teaching lessons and working with the training horses in the
program. Watch for Allyson showing some of the JMQH horses as well
in the upcoming season!
Some words from Allyson: I have
trained under the guidance of Jodi for the last 6 years and I couldn't
ask for a better coach. She has taught me everything I know and I would
not be the rider I am today if it wasn't for all the hard work Jodi has
done for me and I am so grateful for everything. Thank you! |

Anne grew up in Caledon on an apple farm. Her parents didn't have any
interest in horses at all, so she's not sure where her passion came
from! Anne always loved animals, and as a Christmas gift one year
asked for riding lessons. Her farm was just around the corner from
Kilmanagh Valley Farm - then home of Mark & Lindsay Grice. Anne
began riding lessons with the Grice's & Jodi in 1997 and she was hooked!
Since then Anne has had the opportunity to part board several show
horses and compete at a few Open and AQHA shows. Her passion is the
Trail class as she loves the detail involved in getting around the
course correctly.
Currently Anne works as an animal care
attendant at a veterinarian practice and part-time working with Jodi.
She has worked for Jodi since the beginning of her business in 2004 and
is an integral part of the program! She keeps the training horses
groomed, clipped, manages all of their health care needs as well as
longeing, tacking and helping at the horse shows. |
